Privacy
We collect as little as we can, use it only for what you asked for, and never sell it. This page explains what we collect and why, in plain words.
Who we are

To ask anything about your information, use the contact form and choose "Something else".
What we collect, and why
| When you… | We collect | We use it to |
|---|---|---|
| Sign up for the monthly email | Your email address | Send one email a month about the next meetup and the latest recording. You confirm by email first, and you can unsubscribe at any time from any of our emails. |
| Register for a meetup | Your name, email, what you do and your country (the last two are optional) | Save your seat, send your personal join link and reminders, and understand who our meetups reach. |
| Join a meetup | Your name, and your voice and video if you turn them on | Run the meetup. Your name shows to others in the room. See "Recordings" below. |
| Ask for a workshop | Your school or club, its area, your name, role and email | Reply to you and plan the workshop. |
| Send us a message | Your name, email and message | Reply to you. Messages go to our email inbox; we don't store them on the website. |
| Send any form | Your internet (IP) address, and a spam check by Cloudflare Turnstile | Stop spam and abuse. We keep IP addresses for up to 24 hours. |
We collect this with your consent, or because we need it to give you what you asked for. Stopping spam is in everyone's legitimate interest. We don't use advertising, tracking cookies or analytics, and we don't sell or rent your information to anyone.
Recordings
Meetups are recorded and the audio is shared publicly on our podcast page. Anything you say with your microphone on may be in the recording. If you'd rather not be in it, keep your microphone and camera off. You can also ask us to edit you out of a recording before or after it's published.
Please never share children's names, photos, videos or personal details during a meetup.
Who helps us
These services handle information for us, only to run the website:
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and its database, runs the spam check, and runs the meetup video room and recordings.
- Resend: sends our emails.
- Google Fonts and jsDelivr: deliver the website's fonts and the video room's code, so they see your IP address when a page loads.
Some of these services store or process information outside South Africa, including in the United States and Europe. Each one is bound by a data protection agreement with us.
How long we keep it
- Monthly email: until you unsubscribe. Unsubscribing deletes your email address from our list.
- Spam-check IP addresses: up to 24 hours.
- Sign-ups and registrations you never confirmed: 30 days.
- Meetup registrations: 12 months after you register. We keep only the number of people, their roles and countries, without names or email addresses.
- Workshop requests: 2 years.
- Messages to our inbox: 2 years.
- Published recordings: for as long as the podcast is online, unless you ask us to edit you out.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you the information we hold about you, correct it, delete it, or stop using it. You can withdraw your consent at any time. Use the contact form and we'll reply as soon as we can.
If you're not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to South Africa's Information Regulator. If you live in Europe or the UK, you can also contact your own country's data protection authority.
Children
Our meetups, emails and forms are for adults: coaches, teachers and sport staff. We don't knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
If we change this page, we'll update the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your information, we'll tell subscribers by email.
